The Cancer Research Institute in Montpellier (IRCM) invites applications from outstanding and dynamic researchers to cover independent group leader openings (www.ircm.fr)
The IRCM is a newly established research institute located at the campus of the Comprehensive Cancer Hospital of Montpellier (CRLC). It is funded by the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm), the CRLC, and the University Montpellier 1.
IRCM is presently staffed with 8 research groups dedicated to several subjects in cancer research whose scope goes from basic to applied aspects of cancer research. Within the general topic “Molecular Targets and Cancers Therapeutics”, IRCM research projects are articulated along two major orientations:
• Transcriptional regulation and cell signaling
• Molecular biopathology and cancers therapeutics
Scientific projects must comply general orientations of the Research Institute and be aimed at unravelling cancer biology with a final ambition to improve clinical management and treatment of the disease.
IRCM will provide successful candidates with a startup package including lab space, office, and free access to state-of-the-art core facilities, such as animal house, in vivo imaging technologies, microscopy or cell culture between others. Starting grants for the applicants could be also considered.
Applications from both senior and junior scientists are welcome. Selected candidates will receive admi-nistrative assistance for applying to grants and permanent positions at Inserm and University Montpellier 1.
Applications should include a CV, a description of accomplishments, a research project, and the names and full addresses of 3 established scientists who could serve as references.
Due to Institute evolution and extension, two deadlines are to be considered:
• March 31, 2010 for the selection of up to 3 groups which could be welcomed in January 2011;
• May 31, 2011 for the selection of up to 5 groups which could be welcomed in Summer 2012.
